Lost pet was destroyed
A TEWKESBURY woman wants to know why her pet dog was destroyed without her knowledge.
Gemma Andrews of Howells Road said that Chester, her Staffordshire Bull terrier, Chester went missing in February whilst being looked after by friends.
She started looking for him in March, and eventually traced him to Cheltenham Animal Shelter where she was told that he had been destroyed on February 14 after being unclaimed for a week.
Shelter spokesman Tony Bell apologised for the distress caused but said that he had to abide by legislation, and in this case it was reported that the dog had bitten the person who found it.
