Organisers of the Blue Wave Protest are off to Exeter on Friday.

Accompanied by a caravan covered in blue banners and balloons, protesters will be lobbying the members of the South West Regional Assembly as it meets for the last time before the final decision on the Regional Spatial Strategy is made.

They are campaigning against proposals for 14,600 new houses in the borough, 2,900 in or near Tewkesbury town.

After last year’s floods they want to see the town declared a special flood risk area, with a ban on all new building in the flood plain.

There are still seats available on the coach to Exeter.

It has been sponsored by the town council, so that tickets are just £5 each.

It will leave the Crescent in Church Street at 8pm and pick up passengers outside the Canterbury pub 10 minutes later.

They expect to be in Exeter by about 10.30 and back in Tewkesbury soon after 5pm.

Anyone wishing to join them should contact the town hall on 01684 294639.
