I am not a nimby

12:42pm Monday 5th January 2009

As a resident of Church Lench against the Lenchwick windfarm, I would like to point out that contrary to what some people say, I am not a nimby and as a grandmother of five am most concerned as to what is happening to our planet.

Will there always be an England?

11:41am Monday 5th January 2009

Will there always be an England? Not if Brown has anything to do with it!!

Cats Shelter says thank you

2:23pm Tuesday 16th December 2008

MAY I, through your paper, thank everyone who donated food and goodies to our shelter this Christmas. We get many wonderful homes for our cats in Evesham and the surrounding areas and it is extremely gratifying to realise that we have so much support from local people.

Poppy Appeal Grateful

2:41pm Monday 15th December 2008

ONCE again the people of Pershore and District have been more than generous in their response to the Poppy Appeal. This year they have donated £13347.88 which is the most this branch of the Royal British Legion has ever received. We are most grateful for their continuing support.

RNLI Christmas Fair

1:37pm Monday 15th December 2008

THE North Cotswold Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution would like to thank all those who supported their recent Christmas Fair held in the recently beautifully refurbished St David’s Centre in Moreton. The event attracted many supporters and visitors and was a great success, raising a magnificent sum of £1551 for this vital and important life saving institution. Additionally, privately organised initiatives in recent weeks have raised a further £873 by means of a coffee morning in Bourton on the Water, and a dedicated Bridge Club meeting in Bourton on the Hill.

Clean Pavements

10:43am Tuesday 9th December 2008

ARE we hosting an olympic event, and no one has told us here in Pershore? Have any more of your readers spotted in the early hours of the day, the swarm of big and small road sweepers around the town and local estates?

Warmest thanks

2:34pm Tuesday 2nd December 2008

MAY I, through this letter, express my warmest thanks to all those people in Harvington who have shown me great kindness over the long period of my husband, Dick’s illness and then the most heartwarming support during the past few weeks which led to his death. My daughters Kay and Hilary, and I, have been overwhelmed with expressions of sympathy and offers of help and they both are now able to return to their homes knowing that there are many people here to whom I can turn if I am in difficulty. Thank you - all. These words seem inadequate as I write them, but I trust you will know that they are most sincerely meant.

Wonderful treatment

1:23pm Tuesday 2nd December 2008

FOR the last 10 weeks I have been having treatment at Cheltenham Hospital chemotherapy department.

Evesham and its traffic

11:12am Tuesday 2nd December 2008

NOT many weeks pass without some comment on the traffic problem in our town! Recently a writer supports previous letters about the town’s traffic, a special note being made for pedestrians at the bottom end of Bridge Street and Workman’s Bridge, not the first letter of course for people on their trotters. Have pedestrians ever been considered in that area, even when Abbey Gates (sorry - Riverside) car park and shops were built?

11:17am Monday 24th November 2008
